Ask the Governor to Return Funds for Open Space and Natural Areas!Dear geoff,
Land protection and stewardship is once again at risk in Illinois. Money from critical open space and natural areas funds has been borrowed from dedicated funds. Visit the Illinois Environmental Council Action Center to ask the Governor to return these funds immediately.
The Illinois Environmental Council is debuting today a new action alert system so that you can take action on critical issues like this quickly and easily. Simply follow the links in this e-mail to send an e-mail or call your elected officials. Problem:The Governor’s Office has transferred more than $38 million from the Open Space Lands Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) fund and $3.5 million from the Natural Areas Acquisition Fund (NAAF) in the past six months. As a result of these transfers, the viability of the OSLAD and NAAF programs which facilitate land protection and stewardship are in jeopardy.
Contact the Governor’s Office to express your outrage over these actions and ask the Governor to restore these funds immediately. Click the ACT NOW button above or visit our action website here to use our action alert system to contact Governor Quinn and your legislators to let them know how critical these programs are.
Deadline for responding: Please take action by April 11, 2011
